Unusual perspectives

Sascha Basmer is a passionate photographer who loves to explore the world around him through the viewfinder of his camera. “Photography has many facets and gives me as a photographer plenty of opportunities to be creative. Combined with subsequent image processing, there are virtually no limits when it comes to creating unforgettable pictures.”

Capturing unusual pictures with the sensor of your camera requires unusual ideas, craftsmanship and inventiveness. A ladder in the photographic studio to take pictures from the bird’s eye view will also lead to unusual perspectives – just like the deliberate use of a seemingly unsuitable lens such as a wide angle lens for portrait photography.

But that’s not quite so unusual just yet.

It’s unusual viewing angles and camera positions which frequently trigger the viewer’s fascination and perhaps even make them wonder how a certain shot might have come about. Creative photographers constantly feel the need to try something new and experiment with objects. That’s why cable ties, clamps and sticky tape are vital accessories that belong in every camera bag.

Sometimes, you’ll also have to build the odd accessory yourself in order to attach your camera in a certain place – and it’s not unusual to use tools for it which were originally invented for a different purpose. However, as is often the case, there are no limits to your imagination as long as your creation works and helps you to implement your idea for your picture.
