The top ten Christmas YouTube videos

Christmas is the season of joy, festive jumpers, Christmas-cake-swollen bellies and classic movies. To help get you in the festive spirit and spread the holiday cheer, YouTube is awash with Christmas-themed videos. To get in on the fun, make sure you capture all your favourite Christmas moments on film this year: you could even assemble a parody pet song or a flash mob of pensioners. Here’s some inspiration in the form of our top ten xmas YouTube clips.

1. Ode To Joy

Meep meep meep meep meep meep. Need we say more? He really doesn’t.

2. Charlie Brown Christmas

Linus explains to a grumpy and disenchanted Charlie what Christmas is truly about. This clip reminds us to focus more on our community and less on the commercial side of things. A heart-warming clip.

3. Animals of YouTube sing “Deck the Halls”

We couldn’t write this list without including at least one clip of animals doing something crazy and cute – you can’t escape them on YouTube. Here’s a selection box of animals being at their most adorable while singing along to your favourite Christmas song.

4. The Digital Story of the Nativity

This is a clever reworking of the nativity story as it would be told through social media, web and mobile. Times may change but the feeling remains the same.

5. Dancing with an iPod in Public – Christmas Edition

This guy dances like no one is watching… in a huge mall… with lots of people giving him strange looks. But we love him and would like to see more of this kind of infectious joyfulness.

6. Carlson School of Management Flash Mob – Deck the Halls

‘The Carlson School of Management received a surprise visit from a saxophonist… and nearly 300 of his friends from the University of Minnesota’s School of Music this November.’ Flash mobs are great fun; just think of all those hours of hard work and practice,  just to bring joy to complete strangers.

7. Senior Citizen Flash Mob

Another flash mob but at a completely different tempo! Awwwwwww.

8. Slayer Christmas Lights

Some people really go for it with their Christmas lights and one of the great joys of our childhood was walking around the neighbourhood at night, looking at the decorations in their full glory. This man has taken it to another level, adding an interesting twist by using Slayer as his muse.

9. Nintendo Sixty-FOOOOOOOOOOUR

Christmas is all about giving, and the excitement this gift brings to a little kid is incredible – if a little scary.

10. Elf the movie: Santa Announcement

We had to finish our list with a clip from the movie Elf, a firm Christmas movie favourite. This scene also sums up our feelings about Santa perfectly.
