A magical place in Naples: Borgo Marinari

There are places that, for one reason or another, win a place in our hearts or in our minds. It happened to me with this little corner of Naples the very first time I went there, and I’m sure the same thing would happen to all lovers of photography. A hidden corner accessed by the narrowest flight of steps, a small bar, wicker chairs, lots of little coloured wooden boats. A little place that feels good, peaceful, reminds you of simple things, of home. I’ve only been to Naples a few times and every time has been a discovery for me: Naples is one of those cities that never fails to amaze you, with which you are certain to fall in love, and that always leaves you with the desire to return as soon as possible. Naples, with the clamour, the warming sun and the lapping sea, with its markets, street sellers, the children wearing Maradona shirts playing football in the streets; children who are following a dream and you, just by watching them, are sold a bit of that dream too. Magical Naples.

However, of all the wonderful places in Naples, I chose this one: Borgo Marinari, on the little island of Megaride, just before Castel dell’Ovo, in the San Ferdinando area. A must-see for anyone.

I recommend that you go in the morning and have a coffee at the bar in the square – after all, you can’t leave Naples without sampling the excellent coffee with a view of the sea! – and take in all of the wonderful colours of the village. Take out your headphones, listen to the sounds and voices around you and… click that shutter!
If I could, I would go back there right now!
