Now let’s find out Vincentian coast … Starting from south to north.
Sagres! Cabo de São Vicente is a cable situated in the extreme southwest of mainland Portugal, municipality of Vila do Bispo. The cliffs, with a height of up to 60 meters, are beautiful and with the furious sea below. All this beauty brings risks, pay attention when taking selfies!
If you arrive early, you should visit the fortress. It is free! Built in 1846, under orders of D. Maria II, it has a magical sunset, a show that must not be missed when visiting Portugal. The Vincentian coast has many beaches, I will present the ones I like the most.
Castelejo beach – Wild beach, a paradise. An excellent beach with easy access, good for families, for surfers, with a large sandy area with a clean white area and an environment of pure nature. It is one of the only beaches in Portugal. With rocky formations of black color, which contrast with the white of the sand. The cliffs, high and steep, are made up of layers of sediment. A paradise for fish catchers too. How to get there: access is through the village of Vila do Bispo.
Jumping to the beach of Odeceixe. Ranked as one of the 7 Wonders – Beaches of Portugal. is belonging to the parish of Odeceixe, municipality of Aljezur. It is the northern beach in the Algarve, north of Adegas Beach and at the mouth of the river Seixe. The Beach is inserted in a valley, cliffs of shale, landscape of rare and enormous beauty. The river divides the Algarve from the Alentejo, two regions of my country.
With the possibility of opting for sea or river bathing, I believe you will love the trip. Between cliffs and small beaches, there are paradises used by few. The highlight is the central beach of Zmbujeira. the 1st weekend of August come to watch the Festival of the Southwest, one of the most important music festivals in Portugal.
We arrived at the Vila Nova de Mil Fontes, located on the north bank of the mouth of the Mira. It was a small fishing village, today tourists spot. In the center of the village there is the Fort of San Clemente, also known as the Castle. See now the natural landscape, a beach that enchants me with its natural surroundings.
When we got to the ocean, we discovered the rocks and black sand, which are simply beautiful. The Patacho Beach, received an unexpected visitor “The Klemens”. Klemens, was a tugboat that entered the Portuguese coast in December 1996, coming from Holland, this vessel came to run aground. The subject was news in Portugal, still today it is in the same place. Of an odd beauty for those who like to photograph.
Continued to north we will find the village of Porto Côvo! Walking down the village streets towards the sea, we reach the cliffs that shelter small beaches. And to finish we will discover the beach of Samoqueira, surrounded by cliffs, creating wild environments.
There is much to know but it is impossible to squeeze it all in an artile. So I will let the pictures speak for themselves. In short, visit my country … visit Portugal and discover its magic!
